Tata Consumer Products funded it from the start, and it now sells in more than 40 countries; teapigs.com is its US web store, and Tata lists an office in Brooklyn. It sells through grocers, cafes and hotels, not its own shops. The UK company has been a certified B Corp since September 2019.
The format is the product: whole-leaf tea, herbs and fruit in a roomy plant-based mesh pyramid it calls a tea temple, so the leaf can open like loose tea. The range leans on flavored and herbal blends, with a few straight teas. teapigs says its teas have won over 150 Great Taste Awards. Order english breakfast first, a blend of Assam, Rwandan and Ceylon tea, then mao feng green tea from Anhui. The matcha comes from Nishio, Japan, and is Soil Association organic.
