Reading your shortlist
Each card shows the tea type, origin and the vendor's listed price next to the pack size in grams. Open a card for the full listing. “Refine filters” lets you change the tea type, pu-erh style (shou or sheng), caffeine-free, milk, flavor family and price band, then reruns the match. When no caffeine-free tea fits, the result says so before it shows teas that contain caffeine.
Flavor matching reads vendor tasting notes. Nobody on our side has tasted these teas, and stock moves fast, so check the vendor page before ordering.
What happens after you press the button
A language model reads your sentence and answers fixed questions: which tea type, which flavor family, caffeine-free or not, milk or not, how you steep, and whether you named a budget.
Those answers become database filters. Tea type is a category, not a scale: pu-erh is fermented after processing, so it is not “more oxidized” than black tea. Herbal, rooibos, chai, blends and flavored teas have no oxidation level and drop out once you pick a tea type.
Up to 120 teas that pass the filters go to a second model call, which ranks them. A ranker always picks something, so the top card is not proof of a good fit.
The confidence banner reads the ranker's certainty: 50% or more is one clear match, 20% to 49% is several close options, under 20% is no confident pick. Low confidence can mean many teas fit equally well or that none fit well.
If the model is down, slow, or over its daily budget, the page falls back to keyword matching on the same filters, labels the result “Keyword matches”, and shows no percentages.
What is in the catalog
Sheng pu-erh leads the count because pu-erh specialists such as Yunnan Sourcing and white2tea list hundreds of individual cakes each. The right column is the median listed price per gram, so you can see what a type usually costs before you set the price chip.

7,306 teas from 40 vendors in the catalog listed on 2026-10-01. Median price is USD per gram of dry leaf for in-stock packs of 20 g or more; CAD and GBP listings converted at 2026-09-30 reference rates. These are listed prices at that date, not live prices.
