About Teance

Teance is a Berkeley tea room at 1036 Grayson Street, open Wednesday to Sunday. Winnie Yu opened it in 2002 as Celadon with friends FuTung Cheng and Peter Li, renamed it Teance on a 2006 move to Fourth Street, and ran it until her death in 2017. The team continues the sourcing she set up.

The catalog leans on oolong: 38 listed, most from Taiwan's Alishan, Shan Lin Xi and Pinglin plus Phoenix Dancong from Guangdong. It also stocks Marukyu Koyamaen matcha and pu-erh. Order Ali Shan High Mountain (Unroasted) and Baochong Competition Grade first.
