About Old Ways Tea

Old Ways Tea Company is run from California by Phil and Mengjiao Cyr. The tea comes from Mengjiao's family farms in Wuyishan, Fujian, on a mountainside a few kilometers from the cliffs that give Wuyi rock oolong its name. The shop sells nothing outside Wuyishan.

The list is organized by cultivar: Shui Xian from old and new trees, Rou Gui, and lesser-seen varieties such as Aijiao and Fo Shou, several in a "Zuhuo" heavier-roast style dated by year. A wild black tea covers the hongcha side. New crops arrive in stages, black tea first and oolong later in the year. Start with Old Tree Shui Xian and New Tree Rou Gui to compare the two staple yancha.
