Mountain Stream Teas was started in summer 2017 by Matt Hopkins, a Canadian living in Hualien on Taiwan's east coast. The shop sells only Taiwanese tea and focuses on farms that grow without agrochemicals. In early 2026 it opened a small store in the Hualien Cultural Creative Industries Park, open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm.
About 70 products are listed: seasonal picks of Pear Mountain, Shanlinxi and Alishan oolong, Dong Ding, Eastern Beauty, GABA oolong, Sun Moon Lake black teas and aged Baozhong. Grandpa's Favorite, a high-mountain oolong, is the low-cost first order; Old Master Dong Ding shows the roasted side.
