Matchaful is a tea company based in New York with 9 shops you can visit. Last updated October 1, 2026 by My Tea Explorer.
Matchaful is a New York matcha brand founded in 2016 by Hannah Habes. It sells tins online and runs nine cafés: seven in Manhattan (SoHo, Nolita, West Village, Tribeca, Brookfield Place, Park Ave South and Midtown East) and two in Brooklyn (Clinton Hill and Williamsburg).
The company buys single-origin matcha directly from a family farm in Japan rather than blending lots from several suppliers. The online range is small: an everyday single-origin grade (Hikari), a single-cultivar organic grade (Kiwami), a limited Tsuyuhikari cultivar, hojicha, and matcha granola. If you live in New York, taste a straight matcha at a café before buying a tin. Online, Hikari is the sensible first purchase.
