Mariage Frères is a tea company based in Paris, Île-de-France, France with 5 shops you can visit. Last updated October 1, 2026 by My Tea Explorer.
Mariage Frères was registered in Paris on 1 June 1854 by brothers Henri and Edouard Mariage. For about 130 years it sold only wholesale, to hotels and shops. Retail began in 1983 with the tea emporium and salon at 30 rue du Bourg-Tibourg in the Marais, which still operates. There are other Paris houses on rue de Rivoli and on the Left Bank, and a London tea house in Covent Garden that opened in 2018.
The brand is known for scented blends sold in black tins. Marco Polo, a black tea with fruit and flower notes, is the one to buy first; Marco Polo Rouge is the caffeine-free rooibos version.
