Encha is a tea company based in San Francisco, CA with 7 teas in stock in our catalog. Last updated October 1, 2026 by My Tea Explorer.
Encha is a San Francisco matcha company that Li Gong started in November 2014 after leaving a Silicon Valley job; he had tasted organic matcha on a farm in Uji. It sells online and to cafes through a wholesale program and has no shop. Every product is USDA certified organic, a rule Gong set at launch.
The range is matcha only, split by use rather than by farm. Ceremonial grade is first-harvest leaf, shade-grown, hand-picked and stone-ground, and Encha now names farms in Uji, Kagoshima, Miyazaki and Shizuoka as suppliers. Below that sit a ceremonial latte grade, a barista grade for cafe milk drinks, and premixed latte powders in vanilla, lightly sweet, reishi and collagen versions. Order Encha Ceremonial Grade Matcha Powder first if you whisk matcha with water. If you mostly make lattes, use the Ceremonial Grade Latte Matcha Powder instead.
