Crimson Lotus Tea was started in 2013 by Glen Bowers and Dawa Lamu. They split each year between the Seattle area and Yunnan, buying pu-erh and black tea from farmers there and shipping US orders from Seattle stock.
The shop is mostly named pu-erh productions with the mountain in the title: Bulang huang pian, Jingmai old-tree ripe from 2007, Lao Ban Zhang dragon balls sold singly. Sun-dried Dian Hong black teas such as Black Tiger cover the non-pu-erh side. For a first order, a single 2020 Lao Ban Zhang dragon ball costs little and shows the house style; the 2026 Bulang "Stone Lion" huang pian is the low-cost raw cake.
