Camellia Sinensis is a tea company based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada with 3 shops you can visit. Last updated October 1, 2026 by My Tea Explorer.
Camellia Sinensis opened as a small teahouse on Emery Street in Montreal on November 16, 1998. Hugo Americi started it; Jasmin Desharnais and François Marchand joined as partners in 2000 and Indian-tea importer Kevin Gascoyne in 2004. It has three shops: 351 Emery St in the Latin Quarter, 7010 Casgrain Ave at Jean-Talon Market, and 624 St-Joseph East in Quebec City, which has a tea room. It also ships to the US.
The partners visit gardens in China, Taiwan, Japan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Vietnam every spring and buy direct. Teas are dated by harvest, as with Anxi Tie Guan Yin (2025, autumn). Start with that oolong or the Darjeeling Autumn Thurbo.
